TRAGEDY AS ACCESS HOLDINGS CHAIRMAN HERBERT WIGWE, WIFE, SON DIE IN AIRCRASH IN U.S.

Access Bank co-founder and the proprietor of Wigwe University, Dr. Herbert Wigwe, is dead.

Wigwe, Chairman of Access Holdings Plc, reportedly died in a helicopter crash in California, with five others on board.

The chopper was headed to Las Vegas on Friday night when it crashed near Nipton, a border city between Nevada and California.

Wigwe was said to be with his wife, one of their children and another yet-to-be-identified Nigerian. The US government confirmed all on board were dead.

According to them, as of Saturday morning, no survivors had been found, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement.

“We were made aware of a downed aircraft at approximately 10:12 p.m., on February 10, 2024. The scene of the crash was determined to be east of the 15-Freeway, near Halloran Springs Road,” the sheriff’s department said.

The FAA identified the helicopter as a Eurocopter EC 130.

As at the time of filing this report Access Holdings have not released any formal confirmation of the event.
